Winemaker Fabian Valenzuela was joined by Jean Claude Berrouet in 2012. Jean Claude is the recently-retired winemaker of Petrus, having presided over 44 vintages at this revered Bordeaux winery. Black Tears Malbec is a single vineyard wine with all grapes coming from the San Pablo vineyard, located within the Uco Valley and situated 1350m above sea level. This, along with the climate and soil characteristics, gives the wine a unique style when comparing to more 'traditional' Malbecs. The wine gets its name due to its amazing colour intensity. The nose is fairly delicate for such a 'big' wine with aromas of black fruits, spices, menthol and hints of liquorice. On the palate the wine reveals similar notes/ flavours to the nose but with a much greater intensity. The finish is impeccably balanced for such an intense wine. We recommend you decant this wine for at least an hour before drinking! Product Details Region: Mendoza Grape(s): Malbec ABV: 14.5% Vintage: 2014
